The Resilient Delta Fund concept has evolved from a complex $250M blended SPV into a catalytic fund for lenders that can have the same impact - capital flowing into rebuilding 12,000 homes to a resilient, insurable standard.

Why the shift?

From discussions with national banks and CDFIs, we’ve found that galvanizing lenders to do on-balance sheet resiliency loans are a higher impact way to get money out to homeowners. These stakeholders want to establish and manage the loan and Resiliency Co wants to see capital flow into resilient homes. It turns out leveraging the bank's capital and services instead of raising for a fund is a more effective way than raising it ourselves.

Therefore, the Resilient Delta Fund has pivoted into a catalytic capital vehicle for financial institutions to draw on. It provides a lower cost of capital to blend down the rate for the homeowner, making a resilience loan more attractive, and the loans must be used for rebuilding a resilient home to the IBHS Wildfire Prepared Plus standard.

The Resilient Delta Fund can also take philanthropic capital to regrant out to community-based organizations for grants to homeowners. We will be launching a playbook, targeted to philanthropic funders and local community partners for how to administer a grant program. Early adopters of this playbook are organizations like Habitat for Humanity, PostFire, and Greenline Housing Foundation.

While the resilient home lending work remains a primary focus, some other program accomplishments to highlight:
