December 2025

2025 was marked by major disasters and growing recognition of climate risk in housing and insurance. And as the federal government pulls back from hazard mitigation, the macro conditions for The Resiliency Company are increasingly strong.

We see a future where resiliency is the norm and standard of business - a core tenet of how we design systems and build infrastructure.

We started the year with this clear vision around ecosystem building and experimentation, but the implementation details were fuzzy. The fires in LA in January provided an opportunity for us to hone our focus on where we can have the biggest impact. Throughout the year, we made progress by moving from ideas and concepts into market-validated programs, partnerships, and platforms that are actively mobilizing capital into resilient infrastructure.

What we accomplished and learned in 2025:

1. As we established national credibility and built “gravitational pull,” we affirmed that investing in resilient infrastructure is an emerging, high-growth market that needs leadership -- and with momentum and credibility in place, our priority now is disciplined execution.

  • Convened and engaged thousands of leaders across finance, insurance, real estate, philanthropy, and government, including:

    • Hosted The Adaptation Forum (700 registrants, $6T AUM represented)

    • Hosted the 250-person Rebuilding with Resilience convening at SnapHQ to advocate for resilient rebuilding after the January fires in LA

    • Spoke at 40 events: Milken, SF & LA Climate Weeks, Marsh McLennan, Axios House, JLL, and major investor forums

  • Became a recognized thought leader on adaptation finance through:

    • The Epicenter’s growth into a multi-author platform with 1,000+ subscribers.

    • Featured on major publications, podcasts, and media (Axios, America Adapts, Climate Proof, etc.).

    • Supported the growing visibility of our fiscally sponsored orgs, Probable Futures and Case Study Adapt.

2. As we validated a high impact program for financing the “resilience delta,” we affirmed that the post-disaster rebuilding period is a  critical time to influence resilient infrastructure -- investment flows, the risk is understood, and the system is most permeable to change.

  • Developed the operational infrastructure for resilient rebuilding with LA as the founding market by creating: 1) loan underwriting standards tied to IBHS Wildfire Prepared Plus; 2) materials specs, design catalogs, and homeowner resources; and 3) a catalytic grants playbook for community partners

  • Launched the Resilient Delta Fund that has the potential to catalyze $200M+ in resilient home lending alongside banks, CDFIs, and capital partners engaged in resilient loan product design.

  • Co-founded PILLAR, a for-profit education and technology platform for resilient rebuilding and lending:

  • Built deep partnerships across the housing ecosystem including with NAHB, IBHS, MarshMcLennan.

3. As we advanced public and commercial infrastructure pathways, we affirmed our position as a long-game, value-add player in this work who can be a core advocate for resilient infrastructure and financing.

  • Co-developed the Climate Risk Playbook for Commercial Real Estate with JLL, ULI, and Ryan Companies, plus 55 organizations representing $2.4T+ in market value.

  • Soft-launched Resilient America to help municipalities finance resilient public infrastructure.

What to expect from us in 2026:

2026 will bring more specificity to how we operationalize our mission. Our core activities continue across three major programs:

  • Build an Ecosystem - the Resiliency Co aims to be a home for the people and organizations working to make resiliency a core tenet of how we design and build infrastructure and systems.

  • Tell the Resiliency Story - we continue to help decision makers with budgets see and understand the ROI in resiliency.

  • Create the conditions - Resiliency Co will continue to create conditions for financing resilient infrastructure for homes and communities

I remain grateful and energized, working with a brilliant team on an ambitious mission.

Onward!

-Abby
